Today in 2012 a lawsuit against Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, filed by singer-songwriter Jake Holmes, was dismissed in a California District Court. Holmes claimed Led Zeppelin’s song “Dazed and Confused” on their 1969 debut album was derived from a 1967 Holmes song of the same name, which had been performed, but not recorded, by Jimmy Page (as “I’m Confused”) when he was with The Yardbirds. In June 2010 Holmes filed the lawsuit against Page for copyright infringement, claiming Page knowingly copied his work. The case was dismissed following a stipulation filed by both parties. Starting with the November 2012 Led Zeppelin release Celebration Day, the song credits now read “Jimmy Page, inspired by Jake Holmes”.
