Led Zeppelin History – Jan 18

Today in 1975 Led Zeppelin started their 10th U.S. tour, at the Minneapolis Metro Sportscenter. This saw the debut of a whole new stage show, including a massive neon Led Zeppelin sign lit during the finale, Bonzo’s drum set mounted on a riser, and lasers for Page’s violin bow sequence. Note: Some of the rehearsal there the day before was captured on tape and is available as the bootleg “A Tribute to Johnny Kidd and The Pirates”.

Setlist: The planned setlist for this show was changed at the last minute due to Page spraining a finger a few days prior, rendering him unable to play some parts. Dazed and Confused was dropped from the set, and When The Levee Breaks* was added. The rest of it most likely included Rock And Roll, Sick Again, Over The Hills And Far Away, The Song Remains The Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, The Wanton Song, No Quarter, In My Time Of Dying, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, How Many More Times, Stairway To Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Out On The Tiles intro, Black Dog and Communication Breakdown.

*Note: This show was the first of only two times that When The Levee Breaks was ever performed live by the band. The second time was the following show, in Chicago on January 21.
