Led Zeppelin History – May 9

Today in 2008, the short-lived Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, SC opened “Led Zeppelin – The Ride”, a roller coaster synchronized to the music of “Whole Lotta Love”. The coaster stood 155 feet tall, featured six inversions, and spiraled over a lagoon. While waiting for their ride, guests were treated to a unique multimedia Led Zeppelin experience. The ride was most notable for the active participation of the surviving band members, who contributed to all aspects of the ride, including the name, logo and overall look and feel of the vehicles.

Hard Rock Park opened on April 15, 2008, temporarily closed on September 24, 2008 (due to financial issues), reopened May 23, 2009, and finally closed for good at the end of that year. Poor marketing and just not enough interest…
